Counselling and Therapy

With the right approach, therapy can offer the support you need and guide you toward positive change.

My Approach

My work is grounded in a polyvagal-informed and integrative therapeutic approach. This means I support you not only through your thoughts and emotions, but with an understanding of how your nervous system responds to stress, safety, and connection.

Many people move through life in a state of survival, feeling disconnected, overwhelmed, anxious, or shut down. These are not signs of weakness, but protective responses your nervous system has developed in response to stress, trauma, or long-held emotional patterns. In our work together, we create a space where you can begin to feel safe, seen, and supported, so healing and change can naturally unfold.

I take an integrative approach, meaning I draw from a range of therapeutic models and tailor our work to meet your unique needs. This includes elements of humanistic, existential, psychodynamic, and cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) - blending insight, emotional exploration, and practical tools to support your growth.

As a polyvagal-informed therapist, I pay close attention to how your nervous system shapes your experience of the world. Together, we’ll explore the ways in which your system may be operating from survival responses such as fight, flight, freeze, fawn, or shutdown - patterns that were once protective but may now be keeping you stuck. By bringing awareness to these responses, we can gently support your nervous system in moving toward greater regulation, connection, and resilience. This work is collaborative, compassionate, and paced according to you. My intention is to meet you where you are and support you in moving toward where you want to be emotionally, mentally, and somatically.

I believe that many of the symptoms we experience, whether emotional, mental, or physical, are rooted in nervous system dysregulation and unresolved trauma. For true, lasting healing to occur, it’s essential to work with both the body and the mind. This is why I take a holistic approach, integrating both bottom-up (body-to-brain) and top-down (brain-to-body) pathways. In a bottom-up approach, we begin with the body. We build interoceptive awareness—the ability to sense, interpret, and feel the signals your body is constantly sending. Through somatic tools and practices, we gently support your nervous system in developing greater regulation, increasing resilience, and rewiring stress responses that may have been shaped by past experiences.

In a top-down approach, we explore your thought patterns, belief systems, and internal narratives. Together, we bring insight to how these mental frameworks may be influencing your emotional world, relationships, and sense of self. From here, we can begin to cultivate more compassionate and empowering ways of thinking and being.

This integrated, trauma-informed approach is central to my work. It honours the intelligence of both body and mind, and supports your innate capacity to move toward regulation, wholeness, and self-healing. This unique holistic approach is key in rewiring the nervous system towards regulation and in increasing one’s capacity for self-healing.
